“ We loved the chance to see new country at a reasonable pace. The train is a new experience for those of us who have flown everywhere most of our lives. VIA Rail did a great job, and the Rocky Mountaineer was extraordinary. We enjoyed the relaxed attitude and competence of the folks who put the package together, it was outstanding . They were helpful with details of the trip and helped with pieces outside the Fresh Tracks part. Always pleasant and ready to assist. ”

Days 1 to 3 – Your Canadian Train Excursion Begins
Just as your plane touches down in Toronto – the largest city in Canada – the excitement of your upcoming rail trip begins to really set in. Your driver takes you from the airport to downtown, where you can enjoy a special dinner at the CN Tower.
Later, board your awaiting train, where you can relax in your comfortable cabin and enjoy the views of the city from a large window.
Your cabin includes cozy seats that can be converted into a bed at night, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable sleep. Drift off to the gentle rhythm of the train as it clickety-clacks through the Canadian countryside. In the morning, admire the view in the panoramic dome car, which is located steps from your cabin and offers stunning vistas of the iconic landscape.
The train also offers a dining car where sumptuous meals are served and you can socialize with your fellow travellers. This first leg of the journey will take you through Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan as you watch the forests, lakes and prairies roll by outside the window. Experience the enormous scale of this beautiful country while relaxing in style.
Day 4 – Welcome to the Rockies – Arrive in Jasper
Arrive in the Rocky Mountains, where the air is crisp and enormous snow-capped peaks dominate the skyline. Tonight, you will stay in the small mountain resort town of Jasper, which is surrounded by unspoiled wilderness. Admire the raw beauty that frames the community before relaxing at your comfortable hotel for the evening.
Insider tip: Jasper is the world’s second largest dark sky preserve. Make sure you take a moment to step outside after dark and see the stars like you’ve never seen them before!

You have 3 options to choose from today to help you enjoy Jasper to the fullest.

Day 6 – Take the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to Kamloops
Board the train bright and early while the mountain songbirds are chirping and the air still has a slight refreshing chill. The views during this stretch of the journey are incredible, with the towering mountains and the crashing waters of Pyramid Falls.
Now is the perfect time to step onto the outdoor viewing platform to feel the cool breeze on your face as you gaze at the jagged vistas. Arrive in Kamloops in the evening, a warm and welcoming town where you can enjoy a good night's rest in your hotel.
Day 7 – Journey by Train from Kamloops to Vancouver
After a relaxing night in Kamloops, board the train again and travel through the breath-taking Thompson Canyon. Enjoy a glimpse of the amazing Hell's Gate, a stunning waterfall where 200 million gallons of water cascade through a narrow gorge.
During the afternoon, you travel through the lush green landscapes of the Fraser Valley before arriving in Vancouver. Known for being one of the most livable cities in the world, this metropolis is hip, artsy and surrounded by rugged mountain peaks and ocean vistas. Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, the funky art galleries and museums and the vibrant nightlife.

“ It was truly a spectacular trip. The service on the Rocky Mountaineer was some of the best that we have ever seen. This company has incredible process and systems which allow the staff to really focus on their guests. All of the hotels were perfect. Limos at both ends were top shelf. We all agreed that this was just an exceptional journey. Thank you for all of your efforts. This trip was definitely beyond any of our expectations! ”

The best and most relaxing vacation we have ever experiencedMay 23, 2013
Nancy, Edward & Margaret, NC, USA
“ We just got back. Taking into consideration the fact that we have traveled a lot (cruises and train trips in Europe and the US, lived in Europe and all over the USA), it was the best and most relaxing vacation we have ever experienced. Everything went like clock work. We didn't have a single issue from the time our flight left on Thursday morning until our flight returned us to NC eight days later. The extra night in Toronto was perfect. I took 1,127 photos and my mother-in-law took about the same amount. The trip was everything she had hoped and my husband and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. The food, both on the Rocky Mountaineer and Via Rail was excellent... and I doubt I will brave a scale for a few days. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions in planning the trip. ”
