Common Questions

  • Where am I staying on this trip?

You'll be staying at various local three to five start hotels or lodges along your route, some of which are very iconic properties with great locations, views and history. All our accommodations are carefully selected by our Canadian Insiders. We'll make sure that wherever you stay, you get the best value and comfort based on the seasonal availability.

  • What is included in the price?

Typically we include and pre-book all your main trip components so you don't have to worry about your connections, places to stay, or activities on your trip. You'll receive a complete travel package with detailed documentation and our Canadian Insiders remain at your disposal before and during your trip to answer your questions.

  • Can I customize this trip?

Your trip can be as rich as you'd like, and completely arranged around your interests and needs. The greatest benefit of working with us is our local knowledge. You can request your free trip plan to decide what you'd like to see and do.

If your trip is a special occasion, we'll make sure it is unforgettable. Or if you're traveling with a group, we'll take care of the logistics so you can share time together stress-free.

  • What are the best ways to travel around Canada?

Canada has a network of spectacular roadways, train routes, ferry crossings, and float planes. We can arrange for you to travel by car or to sit back and relax.

  • When is the best time to see wildlife?

That depends on the destination and type. As a rule, the main feeding and migration seasons are best for wildlife experiences. Tell us which animals interest you and we'll make your trip coincide with the best viewing season.

  • Is this an escorted tour?

With the exception of our guided wildlife trips, our vacations are not typically 'escorted.' We combine the best of both worlds – the reassurance of seamless connections, customer service support, and scheduled activities, plus the freedom of 'independent' travel. You are not tied into a specific group, or a rigid daily itinerary. This allows us to personalize your trip to suit your occasion, interests, and timeframe.

  • Will it be cold when I visit Canada in summer?

The temperature varies from mild to hot, depending on location. Northern Canada will range between 50°F to 64°F (10°C – 18°C) in summer. The interior of BC, prairies, Ontario and Quebec can reach temperatures around 95°F (35°C). Canada's west coast, mountain regions, and Maritimes enjoy milder summer temperatures. They range on average from 59°F to 77°F (15°C – 25°C).

  • How much does my trip cost?

All our trips can be customized to fit your schedule and budget. The price depends on travel season, train service, hotel level, and the sightseeing tours you choose. Request your free trip plan which will provide you with a detailed cost estimate.

Everything about my trip was perfect. I would not change one thing. Every single person I came in contact with was so professional and consistently on time! There was one "snafu" but Fresh Tracks made sure things were straightened around and didn't miss a beat. I loved the walking/eating tours in both Montreal and Quebec City. I was so glad this type of adventure was offered and explained to me by Fresh Tracks staff.

We loved the walking tours of both cities. The guides were excellent and cities were beautiful. Our self-drive tour through villages was filled with friendly and helpful residents. Bonaparte Hotel was great, and its employees were the absolute best. They were always extra helpful and friendly with answering questions and also suggesting how to make our stay even better.

The trip was wonderful! Thank you so much for all you did to make it special. The wine and card upon our arrival was so thoughtful and sweet. When we arrived at the Frontenac there was a tray with 5 delightful desserts from the hotel staff and a note wishing me happy birthday.  Special touches courtesy of you. We all enjoyed Montreal. It reminded me of a blend of New York City and San Francisco. The hotel was great! The food was great! We had a delicious Italian dinner the night we arrived. After our bus tour the next day we chose not to take the shuttle back to the hotel and ventured out on our own. We found a pub along the way and enjoyed fish-n-chips and craft beer! That night we were in search of the best poutine Montreal had to offer and found it at the quaint, courtyard Montreal Poutine restaurant. Quebec City – no words. What a beautiful city. We all agreed we could have easily stayed a couple more days. The food, the people, the energy of the city… we absolutely LOVED the walking tour. Our guide was delightful. The boat tour was a bit chilly but we survived. And the hotel. Oh my goodness, there are no words. It was FABULOUS! Several people have asked how we knew where to go. I have given all of them your information. I hope they will call or email when they decide to visit Canada. We will be back and we WILL ask you to plan our trip. Thank you for everything.

You and your team made everything perfect and we look forward to visiting again soon!

We enjoyed our trip very much. Everything ran very smoothly. We especially liked our hotel in Montreal, It  was a boutique hotel with 30 rooms in a good location. We would stay there again. The city tour was very good and we had some good meals. We did have some rain to deal with but not a lot. We want to especially thank you for our surprise on arrival of a bottle of wine and a lovely cheese tray for each couple! When we arrived in Quebec City we loved it immediately.  Again the location was great. The hotel had a very good restaurant which we enjoyed on our last night. We also enjoyed the City Tour and our Sightseeing Cruise.  It was a nice warm day and we all ended up with a little sunburn from the cruise. We thank you again and we would definitely recommend Fresh Tracks Canada to everyone!

We had a wonderful trip. We thought it was going to be the one and only time we ever went to Canada, but now we're not so sure. Your arrangements were wonderful. Pickup at the airport and train stations were in wonderful cars, with pleasant and knowledgeable drivers. The hotels could not have been nicer.  While the hotel in Montreal did not include breakfast, we were able to start our days at a nearby Starbucks to get us going. In Quebec, we loved being in the lower town. The room was so spacious, with free wifi, and a large bathroom as well. The staff recommended the wonderful restaurant, St. Amour, for our anniversary dinner, and it was the most fabulous dinner I've ever had. The service was impeccable, and the food amazing. The tours we took were fantastic. I wish we had scheduled to do the countryside tour, but that may be a reason to go back again! (wink, wink!)  Using Fresh Tracks was a wonderful expeience. Letting you take care of everything, made our planning experience so relaxed and stress free.  Thank you so much.  We definitely would recommend you to anyone considering going to Canada, and I expect you will hear from us again one of these days.

The trip was beyond perfect. Watching Chris see it for the first time was great fun. I must truly rave about LHotel in Montreal. Great art and atmosphere, spacious lovely rooms, and a free morning buffet that was truly first class in a very open bright room. I am so in love with Quebec City, I know I will be going back. We added the country tour and it is well worth the price and one of our favorite events. Thank you for making this trip so easy. It is nice to know while traveling that there is always someone you can call. This is my second time with Fresh Tracks Canada, I would never use anyone else, and have recommended you to others.

We had a wonderful time! Canada is so diverse that it felt as if we had visited several countries rather than one. We especially loved Quebec City and had our anniversary dinner at the most romantic restaurant we've ever been to (Saint Amour). Thank you for making our Canadian getaway experience a memorable one. We will definitely do it again soon!

Had a marvelous time on my Fresh Tracks Canada journey to Montreal and Quebec City. Fell in love with the beauty, people, history and culture of these cities. The arrangements and accommodations were fabulous – especially the Auberge Bonaparte in Montreal. Enjoyed the free time wandering the streets, seeking out meals and entertainment, and enjoying the major attractions. Wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks so much to both of you for making this trip possible.

We had a wonderful vacation, and it was so nice to have all the details all taken care of ahead of time by you, so we could spend our time enjoying it all and not having to worry about the arrangements, etc. We all loved Quebec City, but I believe we had the best time in Montreal. We loved the Bonaparte Hotel and the French Restaurant. The staff was awesome. They were all so friendly and helpful; they made our stay so enjoyable. They couldn't do enough for us; and the food was great! We really loved the personal touch we got from them. Both hotels were very nice, and the locations were perfect. I believe everything went smoothly, except for a little mix up with the tour company in Quebec. They told us we needed a voucher for the cruise, but when we told them we didn't have one, they said not to worry about it. Thanks for everything, and I hope we get a chance to visit some other parts of Canada soon.
