    Day 1 – Begin Your Canadian Vacation – Arrive in Vancouver
    The cool, crisp air in Vancouver is invigorating as you start your Canadian winter train vacation. Vancouver’s relatively mild weather is a great introduction to a Canadian winter but look to the north and discover the winter scene you’ve been dreaming of – Vancouver’s coastal mountains stand before you covered in pure white snow.

    Day 2 – Discover Vancouver
    You have 3 options to choose from today:

    • Option 1:
    Eagle Viewing Float Tour
    Just an hour north of Vancouver is one of the world’s largest population of bald eagles. From October until April, these magnificent birds return to the area to feed on spawning salmon with the highest numbers of eagles arriving between mid-November to mid-February. This gentle river float tour lets you view the eagles from the best place – on the river in the comfort of a raft. In addition, you will travel along the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway and enjoy views of ocean vistas, soaring mountains, and rainforest.

    • Option 2: Vancouver Sightseeing Tour
    This is the best way to visit the main attractions and neighbourhoods of Vancouver. Tour along the scenic harbour and through the historic areas of downtown Vancouver.     Day 3 – Board VIA Rail’s Canadian Train
    – Vancouver to the Canadian Rockies
    Enjoy the day exploring the city of Vancouver at your leisure. Later this evening, a cozy and comfortable cabin awaits on the Canadian train for your evening departure. A panoramic dome car – where you can relax, unwind, and see the sights all around you – is only a short walk from your cabin. Chatting over a drink with fellow travelers makes the evening pass by all too quickly. Climb into your warm bed and fall asleep as you travel further toward the Canadian Rockies.

    Day 4 – Rockies Winter Wonderland – Arrive in Jasper
    This is one of the most memorable days of your Canadian vacation! Awake onboard the Canadian train, to trees blanketed in fresh snow – with green branches just peeking through – as you near the Canadian Rockies. The snow is glistening as you arrive in the mountain town of Jasper. Step off the train and take a deep breath of the fresh mountain air, you have arrived! After being driven to your hotel, enjoy the evening at leisure.

    Day 5 – Explore Jasper

    Winter Wonderland Snowshoe
    Enjoy Jasper’s fluffy powder snow and spectacular mountain scenery on this snowshoe adventure. Join an experienced guide and learn about the stunning natural surroundings of Jasper National Park. This adventure includes snowshoes, poles, and transportation. No experience required.

    Maligne Canyon Icewalk
    If you’re feeling adventurous, strap on some ice cleats and walk the floor of Maligne Canyon today with a group and expert guide! You’ll be surrounded by icefalls and rock formations that will take your breath away! Learn about Jasper’s Maligne Valley and disappearing Medicine Lake as you walk approx. 2 miles (3km) exploring one of Jasper’s most impressive winter adventures.

    Jasper Morning Discovery Tour
    Join a knowledgeable guide and small group to seek out and learn about the ecology and rich diversity of Jasper National Park! There is minimal walking on this tour, so sit back and enjoy the winter scenery from the comfort of a sightseeing coach.

    Day 6 – Travel the Icefields Parkway and Lake Louise Activities
    Welcome the morning as you head south along the Icefields Parkway today. You’re traveling along one of the most scenic highways in the world, so wipe the sleep from your eyes quickly! This scenery is just a warm up for the sight that greets you in Lake Louise – glaciers, ice castles, and frozen waters, this is truly a magical winter wonderland.

    You have 2 options to choose from today:

    • Option 1: Dog Sledding Introduction Tour
    Experience one of the most unique winter experiences at Lake Louise, dogsledding through Banff National Park. Experience the beauty of travel by dog team along a beautiful woodland trail. This 30-minute tour provides a perfect introduction to mushing.

    • Option 2: Afternoon Tea + Sleigh Ride at Lake Louise
    Partake in a time-honoured tradition at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Enjoy dainty finger sandwiches, buttermilk scones, homemade sweets and pastries whilst admiring the best view in the hotel. Tea is served in the Fairview or Lakeview Lounge depending on the season.
    Next, a winter sleigh ride by horse drawn carriage is the perfect way to explore Lake Louise. Blankets will keep you warm as you travel slowly to the end of the lake and relive the experience of the original visitors to Lake Louise.

    Day 7 – Lake Louise to Banff and Winter Activities
    Spend the morning at leisure in Lake Louise. Later this morning, travel the short distance from Lake Louise to Banff. Banff is the liveliest of the mountain towns on your Canadian holiday and the energy on Banff Avenue is contagious. Quaint shops give off a warm welcoming glow, and the scent of homemade maple fudge wafts out of sweet shops.

    Banff Gondola
    Journey to the top of Sulphur mountain with admission to the Banff Gondola. Glide up over the treetops and step out into a jaw-dropping mountaintop experience at an elevation of 2,281m (7,486 ft). There is a boardwalk to enjoy, theater with short shows, and interpretive center. Taxi vouchers to/from your hotel and the gondola ensure you can visit on your own time. The scenery is stunning – you won’t want to miss this!

    • Option 2: Johnston Canyon Evening Icewalk
    This popular ice walk will lead you past the lower falls and to the breathtaking upper icefalls. Your headlamp makes the frozen waterfalls of Johnston Canyon shimmer as you hike along the suspended catwalks in quiet darkness at night. Walking distance is 2.2km (1.4 miles) with an elevation gain of 65m (213 ft).

    • Option 3: Paint Pots Snowshoe Adventure
    Strap on snowshoes and venture across the frozen Vermilion River! Suitable for beginners or experts, enjoy the views of Banff National Park as you walk approximately 3km(1.9mi) through the beautiful crisp snow. After this winter snowshoe, enjoy a uniquely Canadian treat – hot maple taffy poured into snow to make a sweet frozen treat!

    Will it be cold when I visit Canada in summer?

    The temperature varies from mild to hot, depending on location. Northern Canada will range between 50°F to 64°F (10°C – 18°C) in summer. The interior of BC, prairies, Ontario and Quebec can reach temperatures around 95°F (35°C). Canada's west coast, mountain regions, and Maritimes enjoy milder summer temperatures. They range on average from 59°F to 77°F (15°C – 25°C).
